I'm using the Plantronics Gamecom 780 plugged into a 4 port usb hub (on 6' usb extension cable) without any problems reported so far. Most headphones irritate my ears after just a couple minutes but I can wear the 780 for hours if I must (i have a large head and have to deal with pinching with other headphones too). I do generally wear the 780 around my neck with the headphones rotated 90* and still seem to come in fine on comms.
